Okay so the other day I was googling events in SLC to see whats happening. I came across an "Elephant Parade" at Gateway. Apparently they do this every year when the circus comes to town. It's free and it just happened to be Wed, the day I had to go downtown for a dentist appt. Anyway, since we were nearby we decided to go check it out. Now you all know from my Zoo post that I am a bit unhappy on animals in captivity for our viewing pleasure. Well, my mom decided to inform me that one of the elephants at the zoo just died...and along with the story they stated that in order to catch elephants in the wild they have to take the babies. They have to shoot the mother to get to the baby to capture...and alot of babies will die along the way to being sold b/c of the stress of it all. Talk about terrible...sorry to anyone who did not want to know this. It's just really sad and I guess if I want to see animals from the wild I should just go on a real African Safari...since any other way to see them has cruelty involved.

I agree about it being sad. The animals at the State fair look so miserable & at the Thanksgiving petting zoo. So sad:(
Yeah, thanks, because I didn't want to know that!!! Now, I can never enjoy something I thought was innocent before.
